Corporate language training
When language means business

MAN Diesel

Background

MAN Diesel has had an on-going collaboration with BLS for several years now.  Every year many employees enrol in courses in English, German and Danish.  All participants meet individually with the relevant BLS language consultant to discuss and assess their needs and levels, and, in the most recent batch, 16 groups were formed.

Objectives

The key requirements of the training were to provide group courses which meet individual needs as much possible.  The needs were wide-ranging according to the level of the participant and his or her goals

Approach

We formed small, homogenous groups based on level and needs.  For example, there were 3 intermediate English groups – one focussing on oral communication, one focussing on written communication and one with a mixture of oral and written communication.  Each group received a course of 40 lessons over 20 weeks.

Results

All participants received individualised training within a group context.  Many participants choose to attend courses year after year as they progress through the levels and/or opt for a course with a different focus.

"I am very happy with the teacher; she can explain and communicate very well the particularities of the Danish language, such as sounds + vowls + etc.; she identifies my individual problems and mistakes and focuses on those to improve. I was surprised how she can open my eyes for the little things that make a difference when learning Danish, and that makes it 'easy' as well."
