Swedish
Ever since the Øresund Bridge opened 10 years ago, communication between Denmark and Sweden has been steadily increasing - both literally and figuratively. More and more Danes work in a Danish/Swedish context with many contacts "on the other side of the water", and more and more international companies are establishing Nordic offices in Copenhagen, which also cover the Swedish market. In this increasingly integrated Øresund region, it is expected from both the Danish and the Swedish side, that employees can function in both languages, and that language is simply not a problem.
Swedish and Danish languages have common origins rooted in Old Norse, which started to develop in two different directions approximately 1000 years ago, resulting in two different national languages. The Nordic languages still have many points of similarity. In particular, the vocabulary and grammar are very similar, but the biggest differences are pronunciation and, to a certain extent, spelling. This means that most Danes master Swedish with comparative ease.
An introductory course in Swedish at BLS, focusing on pronunciation, numbers and the specific words which cause confusion, will take you a long way towards better communication and therefore enriched integration with the Swedes.

Alltsedan Öresundsbron öppnade för snart 10 år sedan, har kommunikationen mellan Danmark och Sverige ökat, såväl bokstavligt som bildligt. Alltfler danskar arbetar i ett danskt/ svenskt sammanhang med många kontakter "hinsidan", och fler internationella företag etablerar nordiska kontor i Köpenhamn, med uppgift att också täcka den svenska marknaden. I den växande Öresundsregionen förväntas det från både dansk och svensk sida att man kan begå sig på bägge språk och att språket inte ska vara ett problem.
Svenska och danska har ett gemensamt ursprung i urnordiskan, som för ca 1.000 år sedan utvecklades i olika riktningar till nationalspråk. Fortfarande har de nordiska språken stora likheter med varandra. Vi har i stort samma ordförråd och grammatik. Den stora skillnaden är uttalet och till viss del stavningen. Detta innebär att det svenska språket inte är speciellt svårt att lära sig för en dansk.
Med en grundkurs hos BLS med tonvikt på uttal, räkneord och de speciella ord, som skapar missförstånd kommer man långt i sin kommunikation med svenskar.
